Management of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) has denied media reports that the newly constructed terminal 3 area was flooded following Monday’s rains which lasted several hours.

Reports had suggested that the facility became soaked with water prompting an emergency call to the National Disaster Management Organisation.

However in a post social media post, KIA said such reports were untrue.

” We can confirm that there was no flooding at KIA, neither was there flooding in terminal 3,” the company said.

Meanwhile, officials of NADMO who received an emergency call to KIA have told Starr News there was no flooding when they visited the place.

The $250 million project, which began on October 30, 2015, and was completed on June 29, 2018, can handle five million passengers per annum, thus averaging a little over 13,000 passengers a day.

A total of 1,250 passengers can be processed per hour. The facility also has an additional 7,000 square metres retail area.

The new terminal, which has five levels spreading across a land size of 48,268 square metres, has six boarding bridges, seven links which are expandable to eight in the near future, four 80-metre long electronic carousels, a 707-capacity parking lot and a new road network. MAPA Construction MNG Holding of Turkey constructed the new terminal.
