The forecourt of the State House in Accra will transform into a vibrant hub of agricultural innovation this month as Ghana hosts the third edition of the Ghana Horticulture Expo. Slated for June 11 to 13, 2026, the three-day event is designed to spark a national movement toward agricultural self-reliance and elevate the country’s standing in the global horticultural market.

Organized under the compelling theme, “From soil to sovereignty: Building Ghana’s agricultural self-reliance through innovation,” the expo is being spearheaded by the Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE) in strategic partnership with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and the Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM).

The gathering comes at a critical juncture, as global supply chain disruptions and escalating food security concerns force nations to rethink their agricultural strategies. Organizers note that this year’s edition will dwarf previous ones, providing an expansive platform focused on investment promotion, technological advancement, value addition, and export growth.

A Showcase of Agricultural Evolution The expo will serve as a one-stop ecosystem for the agricultural value chain. Attendees can expect to navigate a massive exhibition floor featuring the best of Ghana’s fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, and herbs, alongside highly processed, export-ready commodities.

However, the focus goes far beyond the harvest. The event will shine a spotlight on the future of farming, featuring cutting-edge greenhouse technologies, advanced irrigation systems, innovative packaging solutions, and the latest agritech software designed to maximize yield and minimize waste.

High-Level Networking and Deal-Making Beyond the exhibitions, the expo is structured to facilitate tangible business outcomes. The event will draw a diverse coalition of stakeholders, including farmers, exporters, agribusiness leaders, investors, development partners, researchers, policymakers, students, and consumers.

Through structured business-to-business (B2B) meetings and targeted market linkage sessions, the expo aims to bridge the gap between local producers and international buyers. Concurrent policy discussions will also focus on identifying and dismantling bottlenecks within the domestic agricultural value chain.

A Call to National Duty Speaking ahead of the event, FAGE President Davies Narh Korboe articulated a vision that frames agriculture not merely as a commercial venture, but as a matter of national security.

He emphasized that Ghana is uniquely endowed—with fertile land, a favorable climate, and a dynamic human resource base—to not only feed its own population but to aggressively compete on the international stage. Korboe stressed that achieving this agricultural sovereignty is a shared national responsibility that demands strategic investment, robust partnerships, and a relentless focus on innovation.

Crucially, the FAGE President noted that the expo is specifically designed to inspire the younger generation. By showcasing the modern, tech-driven face of agriculture, the initiative hopes to attract young entrepreneurs and agribusiness players who will drive the sector’s future.

The Road to Economic Resilience Ultimately, the 2026 Ghana Horticulture Expo is positioning itself as more than just a trade fair; it is being billed as a catalyst for macroeconomic transformation. By unlocking the untapped potential within the horticultural sector, the organizers believe the initiative can create sustainable jobs, guarantee domestic food security, and propel Ghana toward a future of export excellence and true agricultural independence.
