The Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) in collaboration with the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited are ready to commence the 20th International Trade Fair in Tamale from next week.
The event, which is the first of its kind to be held in the SADA zone of Ghana will witness a display of rich diverse cultures and also afford the business community an opportunity to tap in the investment potentials in the Savannah Ecological Zone.
The over two-week event to take place at the Tamale Sports Stadium is set to begin from February 25th to March 7th 2016. It comes under the theme: “Two Decades of International Trade Fair in Ghana: Exploring Business Opportunities in the SADA Zone of Ghana” and aims at showcasing a vast wealth of business and investment opportunities across the zone.
It is hoped that the cultural exchanges will strengthen bonds between Ghana and its neighboring countries and consequently promote cross border trade and regional integration.
The SADA ecological zone of Ghana, which is playing host to the International Trade Fair can boast of many business and investment potentials in irrigation and irrigation infrastructure; hydropower, solar energy, bio energy, real estate, financial institutions; equipment assembly and agro-processing yet to be tapped and this fair presents the golden opportunity for investors.
The city of Tamale, which is the Regional capital of the Northern Region, is one of the fastest growing city in West Africa with enormous potential for agro-business, has over 23 potential dam sites for irrigation and power as well as other multi-purpose water projects.
There is also an incredible potential for inland fisheries and aquaculture development in rivers, reservoirs (Lake Volta, largest man-made lake in the world) and land (pond based aquaculture).
This flagship event on the West African Trade calendar also falls in the Authority’s fulfillment of its commitment and ultimate mandate to promote economic development in the SADA belt.
It is expected that part of the cultural events will showcase a durbar of chiefs of the biggest traditional rulers of the oldest kingdoms which includes Moshie-Dagomba, the kingdom of Kano (the sons of Naa-Gbewaa) and other rulers from other parts of the country.
The savannah zone is strategically placed, linking Ghana to Ivory Coast, Togo and Burkina Faso within two hours of flight when the Tamale International Airport is completed.
All the 63 districts of the SADA zone will be exhibiting at this historic event.
