The Volta Diaspora Caucus (VDC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has inaugurated its new executives for the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency to strengthen the party’s base ahead of the December general elections.

This initiative is a component of a larger strategy to capture the parliamentary seat and increase the presidential vote margin in the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency.

The inauguration ceremony, held at Sowutuom was attended by key NDC officials, party supporters, and distinguished guests.

The event commenced with the singing of the party anthem, setting the tone for a patriotic and spirited occasion.

The caucus plans to actively engage with the diaspora community through town hall meetings, outreach programs, and other initiatives. This approach aims to ensure that the caucus remains connected to the grassroots and mobilise ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The officers are Gilbert Aduamah as Coordinator, Wisdom Desouza as Vice Coordinator, Mawuwoe Kwesi Dumordzie as the Secretary and Etornam Kwesi Awumi as the Treasurer.

Other members of the executive included Seyram Kwashie Agbosu as Financial Secretary, Richard Rickson as Organizer, Richard Mensah as Deputy Organiser, Ben Sedzro as Youth Organiser, Muaz Yao Bello as Deputy Youth Organiser, Diana Mortty as Women Organizer and Mary Andoh as Deputy Women Organizer.

An advisory board made up of Lucy Foli, Vincent Adio, Justice Senanu Agbewornu, Kofi Atitso, Pascal Abekwei and Azaglo was also constituted to provide counsel to the executive.

In his address at the launch, the National Coordinator of VDC, Hon. Basil Ahiable clarified that the primary purpose of the VDC was to bring together and empower the Ewe community residing beyond the Volta Region, offering essential support towards the 2024 general elections and beyond.

He urged the executives and members to channel their efforts towards supporting the party’s parliamentary candidate, Hon. Emmanuel Allotey and flagbearer, H.E John Mahama, in the upcoming December 7 elections.

The atmosphere was charged with a renewed sense of energy and purpose when the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Anyaa Sowutuom, Hon. Emmanuel Adotey Allotey addressed the audience. He said an NDC government under H.E John Dramani Mahama would come out with aggressive policies like the 2024 Hour economy and programmes that would reduce the hardship on Ghanaians.

He called on the people to reject the New Patrotic Party in the December polls and vote massively for him and H.E John Mahama.

Members of the NDC, inspired by the inauguration of the Anyaa Sowutuom VDC, left the event with a shared commitment to building a more inclusive, united, and prosperous future for the party.

The journey ahead promises to be one of collaboration, innovation, and positive change as the NDC moves forward with Hon. Basil Ahiable at the helm of the National Volta Diaspora Caucus.
