Businesses have begun adopting the use of solar energy in their operations, following governments call for them to do so.
According to the businesses the use of solar is a key strategy for them to avoid the negative impact of power outages known as Dumsor .
To this end Kasapreko company in partnership with Yingli Namene West African Limited has commissioned a 400.4 kwp solar plant.
In an interview with the Citi Business News, Managing Director of the company Richard Adjei said the company saves 10,000 cedis monthly due to the solar system installed.
“We pay on a monthly bases which is cheaper than ECG and so we save every month but after a couple of years, the system becomes ours. As a company that believes in innovation and efficiency of our operations, the installed solar system will allow operations at our largest facility to produce clean power and renewable energy. Kasapreko felt it was imperative to set an example by switching to renewable energy as part of our commitment to sustainability and helping to protect the environment.
“The expertise provided in the design, construction and financing and operation of the solar system by Yingle Namene and cross boundry was the key enabler of the project. The plant has supported employment of about 23 engineers and construction professionals in Ghana during the installation phase.” He added.
Managing Director of solar energy designing, developing and installation company, Yingli Namene West Africa, Firmin Nkamleu Ngassam advised businesses not to be discouraged with initial cost of plant but rather think of the benefit it will add to the energy mix of company.
The plant was financed by CrossBoundry Ghana Limitted under a special arrangement that allows Kasapreko to pay on a monthly basis.
