The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has taken over a new Primary Substation to train electricians across the sub-region.

The facility which is located on the premises of the ECG Training Center at Tema was constructed with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The $600,000 facility will help improve the skills of ECG staff and outsiders in Electrical Engineering and as technicians.

The project will also enhance the capability of the operation and maintenance of a power distribution system of ECG.

In recent times the ECG has prosecuted many electricians for tampering with their meters without proper authorisation.

It hopes many uncertified electricians will take advantage of the facility to gain certification for their operations.
