Players in the financial sector want the Central Bank to partner the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) to intensify financial literacy in Ghana.

According to them, the move is crucial considering the scandals that have hit the microfinance sector recently.

They argued that the development which led to the loss of millions of depositors’ money has affected confidence in the sector.

The Kaneshie branch Manager of the Seed Funds Savings and Loans, James Keyede, said more education is needed to save the situation.

“We are always educating people on cholera, we are educating people on other things, why can’t we educate people on their financial capacity so that they can know who to go to when they need what,” Keyede said during the opening of his branch.

According to him, the launch is important to add to the credibility of the company.

He said: “This launch is to outdoor ourselves and make people know that we are here to stay.”
