In a historic stride for gender representation in one of the world’s most male-dominated industries, Angela List, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Nguvu Mining Limited, has been elected as the 1st Vice President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines.

Her election, which took place at the Chamber’s recent Annual General Meeting in Accra, places her in the second-highest leadership position within the umbrella body responsible for the exploration, production, and processing of mineral resources in Ghana. In this elevated role, List will work directly alongside the Chamber’s President to shape industry policy, drive technical standards, and advocate for sustainable mining practices nationwide.

List assumes the position armed with a formidable 25-year track record in the sector. As the driving force behind Nguvu Holdings, she oversees a vast network of mining operations across West Africa. Her Ghanaian portfolio includes Adamus Resources Limited, Northern Ashanti Mining Company Limited, Segala Mining Company, Samira Hill Gold Mine, and Poura Resources Limited. Beyond Ghana’s borders, her influence is deeply felt in Mali, where her companies, SEMICO-SA and MIKO-SA, are actively transforming the nation’s mining landscape.

Vowing to leverage her decades of experience to catapult the Chamber into an enviable future, List emphasized the heavy responsibility attached to her new office—particularly the mandate to help maximize the dividends of the country’s mineral resources.

“And under no circumstances will I shirk this responsibility,” Madam List firmly stated.

True to her trailblazing nature, List used the platform to issue a passionate rallying cry for more women to enter and conquer the mining space.

“After all, what men can do, women can do better. Indeed, the time has come to give a practical meaning to this idiom as far as the mining industry is concerned,” she declared.

Before establishing her Nguvu Mining empire, List cut her teeth as the Executive Director of BCM Ghana Limited and BCM International Limited—mining services providers that she was instrumental in growing from small enterprises into large, successful regional operators. Academically, she is highly decorated, holding an MSc and an MBA from the University of Manchester, as well as a BSc in Administration from the University of Ghana.

Her ascent to the 1st Vice Presidency of the Chamber is the latest in a long line of prestigious accolades. Crowned the Most Outstanding Female Mining Entrepreneur in Africa, she is also the recipient of the exclusive 2025 Global Power Female Award—an honor presented on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York in the presence of global Heads of State and First Ladies.

On the domestic front, her stellar contributions have been recognized with the 2023 Female CEO of the Year award, as well as the highly revered Asantehene Award bestowed upon her by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for her unparalleled excellence in Ghana’s mining industry.
