Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union, George Teye Nyauno, has hinted of a sit-down strike by its members by Thursday should the Oil Marketing Companies fail to heed to the laws of discharging fuel.

This development follows an artificial shortage that has hit filling stations nationwide.

Speaking in an interview with Obonu News in Tema, he blamed the situation on the Oil Marketing Companies which are not abiding by the laws for discharging fuel.

Mr. Nyauno said several letters have been written to the NPA to regulate the procedure of loading at filling stations and flow meter shortages at BOST depots but have failed to do so.

He added that the ‘T’ Bar which should be used for measuring the underground dip before the product is discharged is not used by the OMC’s which has also resulted to the shortage.
