The Chief Executive Officer of the Women’s World Banking Ghana (WWBG), Ms Charlotte Baidoo has said the company made significant progress this year despite the challenges that faced the financial sector in the country.

She said the challenges rather made the organisation more resilient to deliver on its purpose which is to help customers and clients seize opportunities at every stage of their financial lives.

Speaking at the annual thanksgiving service of the WWBG in Accra, Ms Baidoo said the company was more poised to build deeper relationship with its clients in the coming year.

“This year can be summarised in a few words: In the face of significant challenges, notable among which is the financial crisis that faced the industry following the regulators declaration to purge the industry, we made significant progress.”

“While some may consider this as a challenging period, I believe that this was a test for us all, and I am confident to say that we have come out much stronger,” she said.

She added that while there was much work to do and there might be further challenges ahead, the WWBG was ending 2018 stronger and better prepared to serve customers and clients.

“As a stronger, more straightforward company, better organised to serve our customers and clients; we can build deeper relationships with them, earn the profits our shareholders expect, and help restore confidence and strength to our economy.”

“Our focus and strategy for the coming year are clear, which is to heighten client experience in the year 2019 as a means for attaining high profitability,” she said.

Thanksgiving ceremony

The ceremony brought together staff of the company, as well as clients and stakeholders at the company’s head office in Accra. She said the ceremony was to thank God for His goodness towards the company throughout the year.

Ms Baidoo also expressed gratitude to the management and staff of the organisation for their efforts through out the year to ensure that 2018 was a success.

“Let us give 2019 our best shot. You and I is all WWBG has and we will work at ensuring that it survives all the turbulence,” she said.

She added that although the New Year would bring its own mix of successes and challenges, the direction of the WWBG was and this would be pursued.

The company will continue to focus intently on providing customers and clients with the best service and most comprehensive financial services solutions in the market, managing its costs, re-building the brand, and doing its part to keep the economy moving forward.

“Our long-term value will come through and be reflected in our bottom line over time. I also encourage us all to buy into the reforms that will come up in 2019 for our greater good,” she said.

Need for thanksgiving

Reverend Enoch Afriyie said thanksgiving should be a way of life for everyone as it had the power to unlock miracles for people.

He urged those present to make a conscious effort to be grateful to God and show appreciation.

“The right attitude of gratitude should be our daily lifestyle,” he said.
