The Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association–Ghana (WISTA-Ghana) has urged the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) to adopt deliberate policies that promote gender equity by increasing the inclusion of women in the maritime, trading, and logistics sectors.

The call aligns with WISTA’s mission to attract and support women in leadership and management roles within the industry.

This appeal was made during a courtesy call on the Director-General of the Ghana Maritime Authority, Dr. Kamal-Deen Ali.

Speaking to Citi News on Wednesday, May 14, Executive Director of WISTA-Ghana, Gertrude Adwoa Ohene-Asienim, emphasized the need for intentional action.

“We need to deliberately promote the work of women in the maritime industry and support policies that improve and highlight the contributions women are already making,” she said.
