Wassa East local economy is being boosted by a 20 million dollar state of the art oil palm processing factory. The miller is on schedule to be completed by July 2019.

Construction workers mostly local are being led by Malaysians and Indonesians with the civil works exclusively relying on local labour and technical expertise.

The MD of Plantation SOCFINAF revealed that the over 6,000 hectares oil palm plantation would not be enough to feed the factory. 10,000 nursed seedlings are ready for local farmers interested in planting them to sell their outputs to the new factory.

He explained that their specie of oil palm is superior in yield and oil content. The honourable DCE of Wassa East, Wilson Arthur led the district management team made up of Agric, Planner, Works and the Coordinating Director to tour the new factory site.

Wilson Arthur requested for a local content agreement to be signed to facilitate local businesses to service the factory so local economy would be impacted.
