The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has urged the Ghana National Fire Service to expedite investigations into the cause of the fire at the Budget Deco warehouse.
He announced plans by the government to support operators of the Budget Deco warehouse, at the Free Zones Enclave in Adabraka, Accra, which was partially destroyed by fire on Thursday, October 2.

Speaking to journalists during an assessment visit to the site on Friday, October 3, the Minister said expedited investigations into the cause of the fire will guide the government’s response and preventive measures.
She also reaffirmed her ministry’s commitment to improving safety and security, particularly within the Free Zones enclave.
“We’re waiting for them to give us a report; we know somebody has lost millions in terms of property. And so, this is not a good time to be asking questions. But at the end of investigations by the Ghana National Fire Service, we will be schooled enough to see what remedial measures we will put in place going forward. I also empathise with the owners of the property, the best thing is that no life was lost.
“At the end of the day, we all know you can’t bring anybody back, but as for money, you can always get money again. The fact that no life was lost is comforting enough. We will see what mitigating measures to put in place to help those who have lost their property,” she said.
