Senior Minister-Designate, Hon. Nana Yaw Osafo Marfo has indicated that Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration will certainly look at taxes which stifle growth to businesses in the country.
According to him, he is going to coordinate with other sector ministers especially with the finance and business areas which will promote development in the country.
Parliament, on Friday January 20, 2017, started vetting the 35 ministerial nominees announced by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The nominee, who is the first on the list of four ministers-designate being vetted today, reiterated that there are several lazy and cumbersome taxes, that unnecessarily burden the private sector.
“Any tax creating hindrance to businesses will be looked at when we begin our work…we want our private sector to be vibrant because the economy is not growing. We want to pave way for our private sector to operate smoothly”, he indicated.
He maintained that there are certain fundamental taxes which cannot be tampered with but with regards to those considered as irrelevant, they will certainly be discarded.
