Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante, the ousted Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA), is calling on President John Dramani Mahama to officially notify her of her dismissal.

The former actress, who was replaced last week by the younger Kafui Danku Pitcher and actor James Gardiner, expressed her dismay at not receiving a termination letter despite being removed from her position.

She revealed the challenges she faced in establishing the NFA back in 2021, starting with a meager GHc1000 investment and working without a salary for two years. Juliet lamented having to cover the costs of running the Authority out of her own pocket, including setting up an office and hiring staff.

In a social media post on Sunday March 2, she criticized the appointment of her successor without the courtesy of an official termination letter. Juliet emphasized the importance of respecting both outgoing and incoming CEOs by following proper procedures.

Furthermore, she recounted instances of harassment and disrespect she encountered during her tenure, including facing hostility from the board and enduring inappropriate behavior from male superiors.

Despite these challenges, Juliet remains determined to see her vision for the NFA come to fruition. In response to the recent appointments of Kafui Danku and James Gardiner, a group known as the Association of Ghanaian Creatives has petitioned President Mahama to reconsider their suitability for the roles.

The group advocates for qualified and experienced leadership in the NFA to drive growth and competitiveness in the film industry.

They suggest alternatives to the current appointees, proposing names such as George Bosompin, Jim Awindor, and Akofa Edjeani Asiedu, among others, who they believe possess the industry knowledge and strategic vision needed to lead the NFA effectively.
