Regional Chairmen of the People’s National Convention (PNC) have directed the party’s National Chairman, Moses Dani Baah, and immediate past Flagbearer, David Apasera, to reign within one week over fraud.

The directive is contained in a statement signed by 12 top officials and released after an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the GNAT Hall on Saturday, August 28.

Mr. Apasera and Mr. Dani Baah are warned that they must resign or “face the consequences of a properly constituted NEC rather than trying to cover their shame for their inability to constitute a proper NEC meeting; thereby dragging the party’s name in disrepute.”

The statement is signed by Council of Elders Chairman, Edward Nasigri Mahama, Founding Member Aremyawu Ali and General Secretary, Janet Asana.

Undersigned regional chairmen include Bala Maikankan Greater Accra Reg. Chairman; Wanye M. Joseph Savanna – Regional Chairman; Mahamudu Musah Ahafo Regional ChairmanMr. Kwesi Amoah Western North Regional Chairman; James B. Sam – Central Regional Chairman; Alhaji Baba Mohammed – Upper East Regional Chairman; Alhaji Yahaya Tahiru Northern Regional Chairman; Alhaji Imoro Yakub Eastern Regional Chairman and Bakure Malone in the North East Regional Chairman

Allegedly, the Chairman and the party leader misappropriated some Ghc1.7million of the party’s money during the 2020 elections and have subsequently also blown Ghc150,000 without proper accounting.

The emergency meeting had been provoked by moves by the National Chairman and the Flagbearer to reportedly hound out the party’s General Secretary, Mrs. Janet Asana Nabla, who has been demanding accountability from the two, the statement claimed.

It would be recalled that the General Secretary had been summoned before the party’s Disciplinary Committee (DC) for allegedly snubbing the Committee.

Subsequently, it was reported that Mrs. Asana Nabla had been suspended.

However, the 29th August statement from the regional Chairmen urged the public to disregard the claims that the PNC’s General Secretary has been suspended.

According to the statement, the announcement was part of moves by the party chairman and flagbearer to cover up their misappropriation of the party’s money.

“It is on record that, the hardworking General Secretary has on countless occasions complained about how the Leader and the Chairman misappropriated the party’s funds to the tune of GH₵1.7 million during the 2020 elections. Just recently, after the 29th Anniversary celebration of the PNC to raise funds to pay for party offices rent, an amount of GH₵150 000.00 was received and deposited into the party’s account,” the statement read.
