OmniBank over the weekend took to some principal streets of Accra to embark on a health walk to appreciate its customers. The exercise, according to management, is part of activities earmarked to celebrate customers for their support and loyalty to the bank.

The staff of the company and customers participated in the 5.4km which started at the Efua Sutherland Park through to the Attah Mills High Street and back to the park where a professional trainer took them through the basic routines for keeping fit.

The theme for the walk was: “Walk for a better and healthy life”, stressing the bank’s resolve to create awareness on the importance of exercising and promote healthy living among its cherished clients.

The Managing Director of OmniBank, Philip Oti Mensah in his appreciation to the participants said: “We selected the month of October because it is customer service month and so we are using the opportunity to say a big thank you to our customers for staying with us.”

“We all know the perception about Ghanaian owned banks is not so good right now, however, we have very loyal customers who have stayed with us, which is why we are still alive so we owe our existence now to them,” he added.

Mr Oti also took the opportunity to invite the general public to do business with OmniBank, touting the bank’s strength and good customer service record.

Merger

Meanwhile, the bank says it is finalizing talks and processes for its scheduled merger with Sahel Sahara Bank. Omibank and Sahel Sahara Bank resolved to amalgamate before December this year to create a stronger bank that can satisfy the BoG’snew minimum capital demand of GH¢400 million.

“We have gone through the most important phases of the merger, i.e. we applied for and received the no objection in line with the mergers and acquisition provision, and we have submitted 21 documents out of the 23 we were asked to submit,” he stated.

Mr Oti disclosed that “the feedback we received from the regulator is that they are happy with our documents and so we are expecting an approval soon even though it is not within our authority to decide.

“But we think that it will go well.”
