Nigerian has not been able to supply crude oil to Ghana although Accra has paid for the commodity, Mr John Jinapor, Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Power has said.

According to Mr Jinapor, the situation has resulted in the erratic power supply witnessed in several parts of Ghana recently.

Information from industry players has it that a shortage of gas from Nigeria and a mechanical fault on one of the thermal plants in the Aboadze enclave in Ghana’s Western region, resulted in the shedding of more than 300 megawatts of electricity.

“We are having some problems with even crude supply that we have paid for. They have not been able to deliver the crude,” he told Joy News on Monday June 27.

Mr Jinapor revealed that the government is in search of alternatives to get reliable fuel for power plants in the country, as parts of Accra experience intermittent blackouts.
