Former Finance Minister Dr Kwabena Duffuor has said that a National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, with him as the president, will resolve all the economic challenges.
He said the economy will bounce back stronger if he wins the NDC primaries to become flagbearer and goes ahead to win the Presidential elections in 2024.
He had his nomination forms for the upcoming NDC presidential primaries picked on his behalf.
Supporters and sympathisers of the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana thronged the national headquarters of the party to pick forms for him.
The gesture comes just a day after the NDC opened nominations for the elections.
Already, presumptive candidate John Dramani Mahama, former Kumasi mayor Kojo Bonsu and one Ernest Kwaku Kobeah have picked forms to contest the May 13 polls. They picked the forms on Day 1 of opening of nominations.
Leading Dr Duffour’s delegation to the NDC head office on Thursday, February 23 was the Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser, Gloria Huze.
She was happy with the reception given by party officials led by the Chairman of the Internal Elections Committee, Kakra Essamuah, and assured that Dr Duffour will follow all the regulations to submit the forms.
Addressing some grassroots supporters after his forms were submitted to him in his office on Thursday, Dr Duffuor who is also former Governor of the Bank of Ghana said “the grassroots are the owners of the party, they are very powerful [but] they have been relegated to the background as if they don’t matter, I am asking for your partnership, I am going to partner with you.”
He added “our government, from 2025 will bring the economy back within four years.”
