The Minority group in Parliament has served notice it will go to court to question the composition of the board of the Bank of Ghana (BoG).
According to the minority, a member of the board of the BoG heads an institution that manages the pension funds of the central bank.
This, they say raises a possible conflict of interest concerns.
The BoG board members include Dr. Ernest Addison as Chairman; Dr. Maxwell Opoku-Afari, Charles Adu-Boahen, Dr. Sr. Eugenia Amporfu and Keli Gadzekpo.
The rest are Dr. Kwame Owusu-Nyantekyi, Dr. Samuel Nii Noi Ashong, Jude Kofi Bucknor, Joseph B. Alhassan, Andrew Boye-Doe, Dr. Maria Hagan, Comfort Ocran, and Caroline Otoo.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, the Minority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Tamale South constituency, Haruna Iddrisu stated that the group will contest the issue in court.
“We will soon initiate an action in court to question the composition of the board of the Bank of Ghana, because one of them runs the pension scheme of the Bank of Ghana and is serving on the board of the Bank of Ghana. That engenders conflict of interest”.
“We are following closely, and we think that the Ghanaian people must in the name of transparency support us in this enterprise, especially those of them still serving on the board and playing other roles in terms of the management of their pensions,” he added.
He maintained that the minority will pursue the matter in court to ensure that the board is purged.
