The Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Dr Peter Szijjarto, has announced an increment in the number of Hungarian government scholarships to Ghana.

According to the minister, the scholarships would be increased from 50 to 100 in September 2018 because the “African continent does not need aid, but employable skills and technology that will advance their economies.”

The Hungarian Minister believes, therefore, that through that country’s government scholarship programme, the skills and experiences of Ghanaians would be enhanced to contribute meaningfully towards the development of the nation.

The remarks were made at the 3rd edition of the Ghanaian-Hungarian Business Forum held at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra, recently.

Dr Szijjarto said the Hungarian government had signed a number of economic co-operation agreements with Ghana and also opened the 140 million Euros Credit line through the Hungarian Eximbank, which would offer financial support to entrepreneurs to enhance their businesses.

Dr Peter Szijjarto said it would establish Ghana-Hungarian Business Council to facilitate the needed economic co-operation process. The Hungarian government has a conducive business environment and has introduced flexible tax regimes to attract investors.

“We see Africa as future China and you are about to reach a booming economy and demography as well; therefore, the Hungarian government has launched a policy called “Southern Opening” to enhancing the co-operation between Hungary and Africa,” he added.

He said Hungarian government would increase their investments in Ghana through the construction industry, renewable energy, health, agriculture, Information Communication Technology and food processing.

In addition, he said, it would work together with the government of Ghana in the areas of security and defence as well as sports and cultural development based on mutual respect that would be to the benefit of the people of the two countries.

Dr Szijjarto also announced the interest of the Hungarian government in Ghana’s One District, One Factory, and One village, One Dam programmes, in order to create jobs for the youth and boost socio-economic development for the success of both countries.

Ghana’s Minister for Business Development, Mr. Ibrahim Awal, indicated that the objectives of the Hungarian Government in strengthening business co-operation with Ghana was in line with government’s industrial agenda.

He added that government had instituted measures to create the conducive business environment for Foreign Direct Investment and partnerships.

The Minister indicated that government would require partnership from the private sector and would offer the necessary support to both local and foreign investors to create jobs.

In another development Krif Ghana limited, a stationery depot, used the occasion to launch its automotive customer feedback system machine to the business public.

The customer feedback system machine is to enhance customer’s feedback on staff performance, showcasing customer focus orientation, vital HR statistics, with vital peripherals to help business growth in the country.
