Ghanaians must brace themselves to pay more for utility tariff as the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) prepares to engage the general public on a major tariff review for 2015.

The review will see movements in the current electricity and water tariffs being paid by consumers.

According to a statement released by the commission, it will conduct a nationwide public hearing and stakeholder consultations in all ten regional capitals.

It, however, clarified that it will consider the price of the generating plant that government intends to bring into the country to solve the power crisis, subject to its arrival and times of deployment.

The tariff setting process is also set to go through a Pre-filing notification, a preliminary review, a public hearing , stakeholder consultations and formal hearings.

This, the commission explains is aimed at attaining fairness, equity and transparency in the tariff setting process.
