President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi has revealed that the partnership of his outfit and the major sponsor of the premier league, First Capital Plus Bank, have been put on hold until further notice.

First Capital Plus Bank recently wrote to the GFA officially informing them of their decision to suspend their sponsorship of the local league to revise the bank’s internal structures.

The Bank has also requested for a meeting to review the contract with the GFA since it is unhappy with the leverage it has enjoyed so far as sponsor of the domestic top flight.

“There is a request for a suspension of the contract because the bank is undergoing restructuring. But, we are yet to engage the bank on this request.

“The Executive Committee is yet to meet and discuss this subject and if there are legal issues flowing from that we will take it up,” Nyantakyi told reporters.

The Ghana FA signed a five-year deal worth $10 million with First Capital Plus Bank on February 4, 2014.
