By CHRISTIAN KPESESE – The honorable Member of Parliament for the Amenfi West constituency in the Western Region, Eric Afful has supported sports development in the Amenfi West District with an amount GHS 22, 000.
The donation was used for the procurement of sporting kits including Jerseys, footballs, suits among others.
Hon Afful disclosed this when he interacted with Pupils, Students and Teachers of the Mount Calvary Day Care and Preparatory School, Assankrangwa in parliament during a visit by the school to the Legislature.
The visit by the school forms part of its outreach program to expose the pupils and students to the work of parliament.
The MP has also used his share of the Health Insurance levy to enhance health care in the Amenfi West District, increasing the Community Health and Planning Services (CHPS) in the District from 29 to 50.
A total GHS 70,000 was disbursed by the MP to procure health delivery equipment for the CHPS in the District in order to enhance healthcare whiles empowering community members to become self-reliant.
The Hon MP who has been a lawmaker for only six month also supported to the upgrading of several road-networks in the constituency to help improve standards of living.
He assured of his determination to organise resources aimed at bringing relief to all residents of the Amenfi West constituency.
Mr Afful cautioned student to study hard and shun all negative behaviours to enable them harness their God giving talents for the benefit of themselves, their families, communities and the entire country.
Hon Eric Afful , aged 41 who is an Economist become the MP for Amenfi West on the ticket of the NDC when polled 15,809 votes representing 52.64 per cent of the total valid votes cast in a bye- election in December last year.
Hon Afful replaces the late Mr John Gyetuah, the then MP for the area who died on October 13, 2015.
His closest contender, Lawyer Paul Dekyi of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) polled 13,076 votes representing 43.54 per cent, while Mr. Abraham Kojo Buadee of the Progressive People’s Party garnered 1,032 votes representing 3.44 per cent and Mr. Elvis Adjei of the United Front Party coming at the bottom with 113 votes representing 0.38 per cent.
