Amaris Export Terminal Begins Business as a First Class Terminal

Amaris Export Terminal (AET), Ghana’s First and number one export terminal located in Tema, has begun operations in its ultra-modern facility and is poised to give first class services to its customers within Ghana and beyond.

AET is a Public Private Partnership between the Jaspong group of companies and Ghana Ports and HarboursAuthority (GPHA) and is a 100% Ghanaian owned company. AET is set up and licensed by the GPHA to operate as an export terminal, in the Port of Tema. It has been established as a one stop terminal for all export services.

Quizzing Mr. Alex Atakorah, Managing Director of AET on the operations of the facility, he said “basically we are doing the traditional container handling and storage, but in addition to that we are doing tracking, rental of equipment, staffing on the terminal for export cargo, we do container repairs and terminals, cleaning and washing of containers, we are also trying to promote ourselves as the first terminal to do container repairs, as well as scanning and weighing of containers”

Container Repairs

“We are looking at setting up a first class workshop that will look at repairing containers that get damaged in the process of transporting cargo in Ghana and also look at going into the West African region to capture the market”

Container Weight Verification

“We are working with GPHA to ensure that we are ready for the VGM by 1st July, we probably might be a bit delayed but we are hoping that by the beginning of August we should be ready to do that. In the meantime what we are doing is working with partners to make sure that containers that come out of Amaris Export Terminal is weighed at their premises before they move to the port”

Scanning

“Regarding the scanning, we are working with Nick TC Scan, to have a mobile scanner on the terminal so containers that are stored in Amaris terminal are scanned before they are transported to the ports”

Amaris’s Readiness

“We are ready, we have a 4000 TEU capacity container terminal, ready for storage and handling of containers, we have the required equipment, reach stackers, fork lift and terminal trucks for the haulage and trucking to the port, we do stuffing of containers at the ports, we have the mobile scanners ready at the terminal for scanning. Even for the weighing I will say we are ready because of the partnership we have with the various companies”

 

 

Services

“We have not been commissioned yet but we have been licensed by GPHA so we are ready to start operations. If a customer should walk in, we are ready, we have employed staff, our customer service desk is opened, and banking services are also opened”

Unique

According to Mr. Atakorah, “Besides the first class terminal structure which we have, Amaris terminal is not just in Ghana but probably in the west African region, is the first of its kind, offering a one stop terminal services to customers, if you talk about uniqueness, in all aspects, we aim to offer first class services, competitive rates, good customer services approach, and beyond that we believe that when a customer comes here, they will be able to tap into every service that they need, all services as far as export services are concerned, value for their money”

Amaris Export Terminal has been set up to serve the exporting community and will be a one stop centre where one can do total export business and be served professionally without delay and complications.
