Akuapem Rural Bank PLC has organised a stakeholder engagement to express appreciation to its customers and shareholders in a colourful ceremony.

This second edition of stakeholder engagement saw several customers, shareholders, directors, management and staff of the bank in attendance – which was a platform to also take feedback and assess the bank’s strength and shortcomings in 2022 year under review.

Chairman for the Board of Directors, Kwame Gyeke-Amoako, addressing the stakeholders assured them that even though 2023 looks a bit difficult due to some government programmes and policies, management and directors have put in place a number of strategies to cushion them.

“This year, 2023, promises to be a difficult one in view of the likelihood of impacts from government’s Debt Exchange programme on the financial sector. However, we are putting in place strategies to make our bank the most efficient and model rural bank in Ghana as our goal suggests. We are open to your suggestions and criticism to move our bank forward,” Mr. Gyeke-Amoah said.

Executive Director for the Association of Rural Banks, Comfort Owusu, for her part congratulated the Akuapem Rural Bank PLC management and directors for the stakeholder engagement initiative, describing it as a good one.

She further thanked the shareholders and customers for believing in the brand and sticking to it all through.

Commenting on government’s Debt Exchange programme, Ms. Owusu noted that customers of RCBs are mostly the less privileged in society – hence, such programmes can have dire effects on them.

She therefore mentioned that in a bid to ensure protection for their clientele, the Association of Rural Banks will be presenting a petition on behalf of Rural and Community Banks (RCBs) to government; and further indicated that the programme has made the banking industry a tough one.

The Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyir, Frank Annoh-Dompreh – who was the special guest of honour, in an address congratulated the bank for its achievements over years.

He however added that for the bank to remain relevant and access more clients, management and directors must bring out innovative products and services, as this will go a long way to boost the bank’s activities by bringing in more deposits.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the bank, Kingsley Kyere – speaking to B&FT after the event, expressed satisfaction with the feedback from stakeholders and promised to work harder while strategising efficiently to meet the needs of both existing and prospective clients.
