The Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mahama Ayariga, says all mining companies that fail to use best technologies in dealing with tailings early next year will have their EPA permits withdrawn.
He said his engagement with the mines regarding their waste discharge is disappointing.
Mr Mahama Ayariga was speaking to journalists at the sidelines at the on-going climate change conference in Paris. He said it is unacceptable for mines to discharge untreated waste which go to pollute water bodies.
He said mining cannot go on at the expense of the health of the people.
