A Uganda Uchumi outlet has been raided following a court order issued against the chain for alleged failure to pay Sh5.2 million (USh185 million) to a poultry supplier Ugachick.

This comes barely a week after the Uchumi Supermarkets closed down two non-performing branches — Kabalagala and Nateete — in Kampala, Uganda.

Following the closure of the two Uchumi branches in Kampala, 180 workers were sent home on forced leave pending communication from the head office in Nairobi.
