The Minister-designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has revealed that only women will be employed at the Women’s Development Bank, a key initiative promised by President John Mahama in his manifesto.
She stated that the Ministry of Trade will prioritise inclusivity to enhance women’s participation in industry.
Appearing before the Appointments Committee on January 22, 2025, she emphasised that the initiative aims to empower women in the trade and industrial sectors.
Ofosu-Adjare explained that this will involve facilitating access to capital, mentoring programs, and incentives for women-led industries.
“There will be a dedicated policy on women at the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry. The focus is to promote women and help them scale up their efforts in the industry, so we can see more women in leadership roles,” she stated.
She further elaborated on the women’s bank, saying, “The women’s bank is specifically designed to support women. What’s unique about the bank is that only women will work there. Its implementation will create opportunities for women to thrive.”
