Life is funny. Sometimes, it makes finding your path the most challenging thing you’ll ever do. And sometimes, you’re destined to walk on a chosen path. Luckily for Jared Woodson, a.k.a. Alyst, music was always on the cards. Read on to know why ‘Gleeming’ artist Jared Woodson knew that music was his one true calling.
Q: What was your childhood like, Jared?
Jared Woodson: I’ve had a blessed childhood. In some sense, I thank my stars for being born to my parents because they made it easier for me to choose what I wanted to do with my life.
Both of them are musicians, my mother is well-recognized internationally, and my father, a professional pianist, has played on Michael Jackson’s Thriller tour to his credit. It was my biggest flex growing up. My love for what they did made it clear that music is where I belong too.
Q: Tell us something about working with some of the greatest artists of all time.
Jared Woodson: Working with legends like Oscar Sanchez has been path-breaking for me. I’ve learned and evolved in the process of working with them.
Q: What plans do you have for the future?
Jared Woodson: Well, the overarching plan is to keep doing what I do. Keep making music, experimenting with new sounds, and finding new connections between music and technology. I’ve collaborated with several artists, besides appearing on some of the top podcasts and radio stations.
That is something that I would love to continue. With ‘Gleeming’ out and soaring, I also want to write new songs and create something that people can join in collectively.
