Information minister, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has reiterated that about 180,000 Ghanaians will be employed under the ‘Nation Builder’s Corps’ to address livelihood empowerment and graduate unemployment by the end of April 2018.

The new programme dubbed the “Nation Builders Corps” is focused on solving public service delivery in the health, education, agriculture and sanitation sectors as well as drive revenue mobilization and collection.

He made this revelation on Asempa FM’s flagship programme, “Ekosii Sen” on Wednesday.

In an interview with host Philip Osei Bonsu, the information minister indicated that the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) as part of their targets this year, would create more jobs for unemployed graduates and non-graduates.

Asked by the host if the NPP government has plans for the unemployed percentage of youth in the country, Mr Mustapha said “the jobs will come with the National Builders Corps; 180,000 young people will have work this year…”

He, meanwhile, explained that 80,000 of the workers who will be employed under the scheme will be graduates while 100,000 of them will be diploma and degree holders.

Mr Hamid further stressed that the NPP government is ready to provide jobs for the citizenry, irrespective of their educational backgrounds.

He told Philip that “I don’t want people to think they [graduates] are the only persons who will work. It is not necessarily true that only a degree can make you successful…”
