The Ghana National Gas Company has dismissed reports in a section of the media that it sacrificed safety on the multi-million dollar Karpowership Infrastructure.
Reports were rife on December 10, 2019, that the safety of the strategic national installation currently located at the Naval Command in Sekondi has been compromised.
But responding to the media reports during an end of year media soiree at Takoradi, Head of Corporate Communications at the Company said the story was full of factual inaccuracies.
“When I was appointed by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Nana Akufo Addo as Head of Corporate Communications for Ghana Gas, I made a promise to work closely with journalists especially those of you in the Western Region and so far it’s been good, I have been proactive and engaged you most of the time, so why will a journalists woke up and write such a story full of factual inaccuracies at least he should have conducted us but failed to do that, I’m also told that he had a discussion with Karpower where he was given enough information about the said safety concerns he has but failed to even include that in his story, In view of some of these unprofessional conduct of some journalists, Ghana Gas will from next year build the capacity of journalists to report accurately”.
Mr Owusu Bempah further added that the scholarship will offer selected journalists to advance learning in the industry to enrich their reportage and career development adding that management had already initiated deliberations into the subject and shall be concluded soon.
“Ghana Gas is in talks with some degree-awarding institutions in the country to develop some program along the oil and gas sector to enhance knowledge in the media space, I will entreat journalist to be circumspect in their reportage.
“Our doors are always opened, and if you need the facts you come to us and come for the facts” he advised.
