To show their immense appreciation to CAL Bank for sponsoring the just-ended tournament, organisers of UPAC basketball championship, RITE SPORTS, visited CAL bank. UPAC basketball championship comprises basketball teams from universities, polytechnics and colleges.
The main motive behind the game was to promote basketball at the tertiary level in order to whip up interest in the game, as well as feed the national team with the finest of basketball players.
The winners of the tournament, University of Ghana, were present at the meeting together with the school’s director of sports.
They expressed their profound gratitude to CAL Bank for making the event a success and also looked forward to sustaining a good relationship in the field of sports for the years ahead.
The director of sports at UG said after CAL Bank’s effort, the basketball team was able to qualify to participate in the 8th Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) games in South Africa.
Also, Mr. Siabi, head of marketing said that CAL Bank’s decision to sponsor the tournament was in line with its 3-year strategic policy.
Executive Director of CAL Bank, Mr. Philip Owiredu, expressed his satisfaction in the organisation, so far, and re-affirmed CAL Bank’s continuous support to inter-college, communal and lesser known sports in Ghana. He said that he believed in engaging the youth since they will eventually become the future leaders of the country.
