President of Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) chapter, Mr. Raphael Apetorgbor has called on student leaders to get involved in the fight against breast cancer in the country.

He said students leaders would be able to influence government on implementation of policies towards tackling the menace.
Statistics from the World Health Organisation (WHO) indicates that in 2018, there was an estimated 2.1 million new cases of breast cancer and 627,000 deaths from breast cancer worldwide.

The month of October is widely referred to as the Pink month, dedicated to creating awareness about breast cancer.
Speaking in Accra, Mr. Apetorgbor said if success must be achieved in the fight against cancer in the country , there was need for strong collaboration between government and stakeholders at all levels.
He entreated breast cancer survivors to use their experience to raise awareness on the disease in order to save lives.
He further asked women and men to be breast aware by regularly carrying out breast self- examination.

“It’s important that every woman and man check the breast monthly by conducting breast self examination to check for lumps and other usual breast changes” Mr. Apetorgbor stated.
The President of GRASAG GIMPA called on everyone to take action by demanding the leadership of Ghana to prioritise cancer care.
