Inflation for December 2016 has dropped to 15.4% from 15.5% of November 2016.
The immediate past government had targeted 13.5%.
Prices for goods and services remained fairly stable as inflation fell marginally, the lowest since June 2014.
The monthly change rate was 0.9% compared to the 0.8% recorded in November.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages recorded a year-on-year inflation rate of 9.7% – 0.4% point higher than the rate recorded in November 2016.
Five subgroups of the food and non-alcoholic beverages group recorded inflation rate higher than the group average rate of 9.7%.
