The Ghana Community Network Services Limited GCNet has re-launched its updated electronic information portal to enhance and facilitate trade and export activities in the country.
The re-launch of the portal which has been in operation over the last decade was necessitated by lack of critical data on imported pharmaceutical products into the country on the old platform.
The updated portal has therefore captured these critical data on imported pharmaceutical products to facilitated their pre-import registration and remove all bottlenecks associated with the process.
The Technical Advisor on Export Trade Development at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Mr Gerald Nyarko-Mensah stated that the new portal which is rich with all the necessary information on pharmaceutical products would facilitate easy access to all stakeholders for the purpose of planning and decision making since it provides useful data in terms of quantity and value of products per the HS classification requirements.
According to him the upgraded system would facilitate trade processes in a transparent and compliant manner.
Mr Nyako-Mensah commended GCNet for its commitment to the provision of ICT based solutions that foster trade development and facilitation, promoting competitiveness among businesses whiles ensuring that the needed revenue is mobilise for government.
The Deputy Operations Manager of TradeNet, Mr Eben Engmann noted that the new digital platform will ensure flexibility in the pre-registration process as all documents are processed online, payments made online and also ensures multistage approach to foster closer collaboration with all stakeholders.
He also disclosed that apart from drugs, the upgraded eMDA portal has all data on food items, medical products, tobacco and materials that are handled by the Foods and Drugs Authority that can help clients register and clear them accordingly on the platform without any challenges.
The upgraded GCNet/Food and Drugs Authority Pharmaceutical Market Information better known as the electronic-Ministries, Department and Agencies (eMDA) portal is a web-base portal that serves as a data rich reference resource point for stakeholders for the registration and clearing of products.
The portal now has the software required to detailed information on pharmaceutical products that are imported into the country.
The eMDA portal which is very dynamic for future alterations to accommodate other addition is only accessible by authorized institutions and stakeholders.
