A system failure early Thursday morning plunged Ghana into darkness, barely a month after the nation’s power producer, VRA, transmitter GRIDCo and distributor ECG began supplying regular power.
Major parts of the country have been left without power.
The exact cause of the system failure is unclear but the incident occurred around 5.30am January 21, 2016.
Apart from Accra, Tema also went off the grid. Sources within ECG say most supply lines across the country are also down.
