SIC Insurance Company has reiterated the need for businesses to begin paying critical attention to insuring their buildings.
Over the weekend, fire gutted the first floor of the GBC Liberty House Branch at Katamanto in Accra.
Head of Corporate and Special Risk at SIC, Emmanuel Simpiney-Mensah, emphasized that the role of insurance in minimizing business risk cannot be overemphasized.
He stated that, “The general public should know that this is a good example of what can happen. Misfortune is there but when misfortune comes you will certainly lose and that is why SIC has been made for you. Come and see us with all your perceive risks because we bear risk, that is what we do, we are paid for that. Our job is to bear risk for people so that people can have peace of mind to do their work. We are number one in this country. We have been doing this work for years. We have been doing this work for years, and we are noted for that.”
SIC as insurers of the GCB facility is in talks with management of the bank to ascertain the level of damage and pay claims accordingly.
The bank assured its customers that the fire did not affect their data.
Meanwhile, the bank have not been in operation since Monday, November 30, 2020, following the fire outbreak.
A statement signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs on behalf of the Managing Director of the Bank said the closure is to allow for a thorough assessment of the extent of damage caused by the fire.
Customers of the bank were advised to visit Kantamanto, Okaishie, Makola, Republic House, High Street, Boundary Road, Ministries and any GCB Bank Branch of their choice or make use of alternate channels including internet banking, GCB Mobile banking, ATMs and G-Money Mobile Wallet.
