MTN invested $160m in Technology upgrade as it launches TurboNet Broadband

Ghana’s leading Telecommunication Network provider, MTN has taken the leapfrog in the telecom sector to officially launch the “TurboNet” to revolutionalize the high– speed home broadband marketin Ghana.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of MTN Ghana, Mr. Selorm Adadevoh indicated that, MTN released a pilot version of the device into the market far back in February, 2019, and the feedback with research shown the product has come to change the face of Home Broadband in the country.

Speed test carriedout both internally and externally by customers using the device indicate super high speeds ranging up to 300 Mbps which is the highest currently in the country compare to what other network providers are able to achieve.

According to the CEO of MTN GHANA, a report from World Bank says an increase in broadband penetration increase the country’s GDP per capita growth. MTN is excited to introduce on to the market the MTN TURBONET, which is a high-speed 4G+ internet router providing a fixed wireless broadband service.

Investment

An upgrade of MTN infrastructure to 4G+ took place in 2018 till up till now with a cost of $160m inclusive of expansion seen in the 1600 site and the upgraded technology introducedby MTN.

Accessment

Consumers must be in a MTN 4G+location area to enjoy the service, therefore the ability for the network providers to cover a wider range is expected to enable Ghanaians all over the country be able to enjoy this great service the product offers.

The CEO further stressed that the telecom giants will continue to invest in initiatives and products that will allow people to lead a connected life.

Speaking at the Launch was the Deputy Minister of Communication Mr. George Andah, He commended MTN for the consistent investment within the ICT space, all in the interest of the consumer.

The launch of the TurboNet by MTN would certainly support government efforts in braging the digitaldevice gap, to enable citizens have access to digit initiatives, such as E-payment, E-address system, E- passport system, E- procurement system, E- immigration system, etc which would help the ministry of communication compliment the objectives of mobile digital agenda.

A call to protect governments investments

“We must protect the investment being made by Government and the private sector to provide better service, if we continue to damage and vandalized underground fiber optic cables layed  by the telecos, we would be facing serious service interaction challenges and the experience we are championing might not be worth it”, Mr. George Andah advice to consumers.

Mr. George Andah call on MTN Ghana to be must concern of service quality delivery, availability of service, reliability of service, speed of service and affordability of service when it comes to the delivery of broadband services. “We know you have takenthe lead but please keep going higher”

In an interview with Head of Corporate Services Executive of MTN GHANA Mr. Samuel Koranteng, eulogised the TurboNet Broadband, saying the device brings the “modern connected world to every Ghanaian”.

What is TurboNet Broadband

The TurboNet is a plug and play internet router that comes with a High-powered external antenna as well as a data Sim that enables it to deliver fast internet at the convenience of the user’s Home or Office.

MTN is confident in offering customers a superior fixed wireless broadband experience which will enhance business productivity as well as improve the residential market and in effect support national development.
