Unity Oil Company Limited is considering sponsoring the Ghana Premier League, Cooperate affairs Manager of company, Alfred Frimpong, has said.

The ongoing 2015/2016 Ghanaian top-flight league is without a sponsor after First Capital Plus, now Capital Bank, pulled out of a sponsorship deal with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The bank signed a five-year-deal with the GFA in January 2014, worth $10 million in total and $2 million annually, but opted to halt all actions related to the league last year after the company reached a decision to undergo restructuring.

Speaking to Class Sports, Mr Frimpong said Unity Oil was considering sponsoring the league.

“We are yet to engage some stakeholders and see how things will go and then later present it to management for the way forward. It doesn’t mean that we are going to sponsor the Ghana Premier League yet, we are considering it and it’s up to management to decide whether we go in for it or not”, he stated.
