The Bulk Oil Service and Transportation (BOST) has imported an additional 2,500 metric tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas following reports of a shortage of the product in parts of the country.

Reports are rife that parts of the country including, the Greater Accra and Central regions have been out of Gas for several days.

In a statement, BOST said it will begin the distribution of the product at the Tema Harbor today. The statement urged Ghanaians to remain calm and not “allow pessimists in our petroleum sector whose major aim is to create such a chaotic situation and benefit from it thereof”.

Below are details of the statement
The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers wish to inform the general public and our cherished petroleum consumers that, Bulk Oil Service and Transportation (BOST) has imported an additional 2,500 metric tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas into Ghana’s economy as at September 29, 2015, The vessel which brought the product is “MT Sanko Independance” with BOST as the importer which can be verified on manifest at GPHA.

The said LPG product will be discharged into the various farm tanks of Tema Oil Refinery today and distribution to retailers across the country will follow there after, The Chamber therefore advise the General public to remain calm and not allow pessimist in our petroleum sector whose major aim is to create such a chaotic situation and benefit from it thereof.

The Chamber once again wish to express its profound gratitude to the Managing Director of BOST, Mr. Kwame Awuah Darko for his personal involvement in averting a situation which would have been described as chaotic in supply of LPG, We also thank the management and workers of BOST, The management and workers of Tema Oil Refinery, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and Ghana Navy for their collaborative effort in exhibiting patriotism for this country.
